Rock pi 4B+ Wifi Bluetooth issue

Hi, my Rock Pi 4B+ having the Wifi Bluetooth will auto turn OFF after connected like 15-25mins..
HDMI setting is 1080P and tried with different cable, and already disabled sleep in setting and still facing the turn off issue even while I'm still browsing. The issue still come back after I toggle the Wifi back to ON.
I'm facing the same wifi issue on the Radxa official AndroidTV 9 OS, I thought the issue will be fixed after I switched to other Android 11 OS.
Any idea how to prevent the Wifi toggle off itself because I need the wifi stayed on.

Currently I'm using Emteria rockpi4b-v11.3.81 OS, and I boot it from Micro SD card.

Raspberry Pi 4B 1GB no boot

Hi,
I would like to try the Emteria OS on my Raspberry PI 4 model B with 1GB RAM, connected to an HDMI display.

I've tried to flash both Emteria 14.12.0 and 15.4.0 on two different 16GB SD cards but boot always fails.
I've tried using both Raspberry official imager app and also downloading the images from Emteria website and Balena Etcher to flash, but the results are the same.
The Raspberry is stuck on rainbow splash screen and won't boot.

I've tried to enable the serial port, to retrieve some boot log changing the "console=serial0,115200" parameter on cmdline.txt but nothing exits from the serial port.

The standard Raspbian image works very well on both SD cards, and I can see the console on the serial port.

Were is the mistake?

I wondered if anyone has tested Emteria OS on commercially available Samsung or Lenovo tablets. Does anyone have any experience with this?

Maybe I'm doing something wrong but the OS seems to work ok however Bromite crashes regularly with "Oh snap" which isn't particularly helpful. Duckduckgo doesn't load and goes to the open page...
Very disappointed. Lineage at least works!

I have installed the latest version of Emteria with a RPi camera connected, via ribbon cable to the board. When I enter the camera app it crashes and when I use any video calling software the camera is not accessed. I submitted a bug report already but I can provide logcat log. Any help?

Just Opening a new discussion thread for micro G (https://microg.org/) support in Emteria, installation and issues etc.

Inital testing on Emteria 0.6.1:

1. Emteria settings -> enable signature spoofing
2. FDroid -> add microG repository (see https://microg.org/fdroid/repo) to download microG related apks.
3. Follow installation steps at https://github.com/microg/android_packages_apps_GmsCore/wiki/Installation
4. Android apps requiring Google play services should install/work fine (There could be issues as microG project is in heavy development stage.)

I tested it with one android application that was not getting installed previously because of Google play services not installed on Emteria OS. Now it got installed. So far no freezes. microG is very light on memory.

However, Need to test it more. Anyone would like to share their experiences on this ?
Any issues ? if features such as location working ?

Set display resolution to a fixed value.

Hi, I'm asking if there is a method to set the display resolution to a fixed value (i.e. 1080p60) regardless the attached monitor for a RPi 3B(+)/4. The expected behavior should be:
1. I connect a display that is able to works at 1080p60 => OK;
2. I connect a display that is unable to works at 1080p60 => anything but the important thing is that the Emteria resolution stuck at 1080p60.

I try to arrange the config.txt and the cmdline.txt in the BOOT partition but it seems to me that it works only in the early phases of the loading process, after follows the display resolution. The issue arises if I connect a display that hasn't the 1080p60 resolution available: the RPi arranges the HDMI resolution to one of the available res for the monitor and, if I connect a 1080p60 capable monitor after, the requested resolution in the Emteria settings remains at the older one. I have an app that works properly ONLY at 1080p60 so I need that Emteria res remains to 1080p60 forever.

I apologize; I was using the list of supported hardware to find information. The installer provided me with the information I needed.

I’m starting a project that requires low-cost hardware. I tested the Raspberry Pi 3B, but its performance was not sufficient to run a kiosk with a proprietary Android application built using Jetpack Compose.

I began exploring alternatives and found that the Rock 3C (with 2 GB of RAM) seems to meet my requirements. I purchased one for testing, but I couldn’t find any information on Emteria Android support for this board, despite it being mentioned in some contexts.

Could you please clarify if Emteria Android is available for the Rock 3C, or if there are plans to support it?

Hi I'm trying to get my Raspberry pi to boot from a PNY 64Gb micro sd, User the installer and it creates the disk but I loose access to the E: dirive after its created. I put it in my Raspberry pi micro sd Slot and it doesn't do anything Just a blue screen. I'm using windows 11 to make the boot disk. any help would be appreciated It boots fine with the rpi disk. How to enforce headless VNC resolution on RPi4?

I would like to run any version 14 or 15 on Raspberry Pi 4 at 1280x720 or 1024x768 resolution headless via VNC. It works fine with HDMI attached, I can set the "Requested resolution" from the list of available "Supported resolutions" in the Raspberry Pi Settings app. Unfortunately after disconnecting HDMI the system boots in 1920x1080, and all my desktop apps disappear also by the way (not that it is important any more at this point). I tried 15.2.66, 15.2.9, 14.10.6, 14.7, ... and I have the same problem with all of them. Headless via VNC I can still see "Supported resolutions" available, but it ignores the requested one and goes with fullhd. It almost works on 14.2.0 (I request 1280 and get 1024) but there are different randomly emerging issues - among others with rotation and missing colors.
Is there any way to enforce the resolution for VNC? It is not a problem for me to set it first via HDMI, it just needs to work headless later.

I installed Emteria on Raspberry 4B and downloaded this OS Image with the "Raspberry Pi Imager" for Linux a few weeks ago. The OS version 14.2 was installed initially and everything was fine. Today I upgraded the OS to version 14.7 and after the reboot at the end of the upgrade process the mouse cursor was not there anymore. The computer isn't connected to a touch screen and so it is nearly impossible to use it without a mouse. I found some operations, which can be done with the keyboard, but this is very limited. Is there any possibility to install a driver for the mouse again?

eleclabs 10.1 touchscreen

I have been trying to get the ElecLabs 10.1 touchscreen to work with Emteria and my Pi4 8GB. I have been able to get it working via fydeos and have used the same settings for the overrides. Below are my overrides. You will notice several commented out as they apply to the kernel used for fydeos, which I attempted to use and it just got stuck in a boot loop. With these settings the display is recognized but it never goes into the OS. Could this be because the screen is 2560x1600? Any help would be greatly appreciated as I am attempting to make a customized Google Hub. The only reason I didn't use FydeOS is a bug where I can't use any camera including the PiCam so I had to move on to attempt something else. I have already tried to use several versions of Android from KonstaKang but there is an issue with Google Home not working without a device id and the developer won't respond back to any of my messages. (had to use SQL comments for the purposes of this post as the hashtag makes the line bold)

Android on CM5/ CM5 IO Board with Raspberry Touchdisplay 2

Hello Together,

I've CM5 with the CM5 IO board and a Raspberry Touchdisplay 2. So HW is up and running under Raspberry PI OS booting from the eMMC.

I know it is not officially supported on the CM5, but I tried the emteria Android OS Image for Raspi 5. I was able to flash the is with the Raspberry Pi5 Imager.

However it is not booting. Or at least it shows a black screen after showing the uboot boot screen on HDMI0 and always a black screen on the touch display

I guess I need a different device tree file and need to add dtoverlay=vc4-kms-dsi-ili9881-7inch to the config.txt config-overrides.txt.

Has anyone successfully booted android on the cm5 with the cm5 IO board and can point me into the right direction?

I have a Pi5. I tried to install 14.2.0 and later 14.2.2. With both versions, there's no audio either on HDMI or Bluetooth (3.5 jack is not available).
What I have tried so far:

on Raspberry Pi Settings I changed the outputs to HDMI 0, HDMI 1, no luck
I edited the config.txt adding hdmi_drive=2, no luck
Different TVs. By the way, Android AOSP audio works fine on both TVs.
Different versions 14.2.0 and 14.2.2

What else can I do ?
My company is willing to use this solution for multiple devices, but if the audio doesn't work we'll have to abandon the Pi5 altogether.
I apprectiate the help!

Pi 4b stuck on splash screen

I have a Raspberry Pi 4b that I've been trying to install either Android 13 or 14 (at this point I don't care which) on. I can get to the splash screen and that's it.

I've tried multiple (new) SD cards as well as several I have sitting around. They all do the same thing. I've tried loading the SD card both with the Raspberry Pi Imager software (from Windows) and also the Emteria SD imager. Both result in the same thing. Stuck on splash screen. The monitor I'm using is a full size desktop monitor (I read where some were having issues with screen resolutions) and I tried it both through a KVM and direct from Pi to Monitor via HDMI.

The current SD card is a SanDisk ultra 128g card. I used the Emteria OS installer to install the Live release of Raspberry Pi 4b emteria OS v13.7.0
I have also tried 14.4.0 and 14.2.0, and I cannot make any of them work.

Any suggestions? Other things to troubleshoot?

On Pi5 with 14.2.0, every time you start the system with a keyboard/mouse connected, I get this:
"there's an internal problem with your device. contact your manufacturer for details"

PS: It doesn't happen on Pi4.

Pi 400 hardware keyboard won't work after update

I installed Emteria on a Raspberry Pi 400. The hardware keyboard and a USB-wired mouse were working when I started. I downloaded the latest updates, and now the hardware keyboard will not work. The pop-up virtual keyboard works, but it's a pain to use because the HDMI monitor is not a touch screen. I checked the settings and ensured that the "show virtual keyboard with hardware keyboard" was off. Installed OS version is 14.4.0. (It's also telling me the device is offline, even though it's registered and shows up in the control panel, but one problem at a time.)

I have connected the Rock 5B with an HDMI display while my speakers are plugged in to Rock 5B's built-in 3.5mm audio output. The OS continues outputting the sound through HDMI display speakers instead of the speakers connected to the board. I cannot seem to find a setting that allows me to choose which audio device to use. Is there a setting I'm missing?

Unfortunately, I cannot connect the external speakers to the display and its built-in speakers' volume and quality are not acceptable.

I would like to know if AMD devices are possible

Poor responsiveness of Emteria 14.2.0 on Compute Module 4

Hi,
I am using Compute Module 4 (8GB+32GB+WiFi) for a customer project. Have installed 14.2.0. The module is connected to a TFT 1280x800 10.1-inch display through HDMI and USB.

But find it to be very laggy and the touch response is also poor.

The performance is better when using Emteria 11.11.0 but still some lag is there.

When testing the same system with Raspberry PI OS, the performance is way better.

Please let me know if it is the current behavior and if not, how the performance can be improved.

BlueTooth Headset not working

I tried to connect a Senna BlueTooth Headset. The pairing worked without problems, but I couldn't hear anything on the Headset. If I plug Earphones to the Raspberry internal plug I can hear the system tones, but on the BlueTooth device I can hear anything.
Has somebody an idea what's wrong and how I can fix it?

I can connect to wifi, but after powering off and restarting the wifi does not automatically connect.

It remains as saved and I have to connect manually.

Is there a setting I am missing to automatically connect or is this a feature of the OS.

Paid app not working on raspberry

Hi, I'm new here and so I have a noob question. I have Emteria with Android 14 running on a raspberry 4. I have a paid app I own that I'd like to run on it. The app is RadarScope and I have extracted the apk from my Pixel where I own it and installed it in Emteria but it crashes as soon as I launch it. Is there anything I can do to troubleshoot this and is it possible to do what I'm trying to do? Can you install and run paid/owned apps in Emteria?

PasspointManager causing boot loop

As soon as WiFi is enabled on either my Raspberry Pi 4B or my CM4 with Emteria installed the device reboots. This issue has appeared in many other user cases on other forums under other versions of Android for RPi such as Lineage, OmniRom and the Android-rpi source that they are based on. The cause appears to be Passpoint. If a Hotspot 2.0 network is in range, the device will immediately reboot without fail. I'm trying to figure out how to disable Passpoint on an OS level but the Android documentation on this is a bit confusing:

"Conversely if device implementations do not include support for Wi-Fi Passpoint:

[C-2-1] The implementation of the Passpoint related WifiManager APIs MUST throw an UnsupportedOperationException."

Pi 5 - Android 14

Was able to finally boot Android 14 on the Pi 5, however the boot to recovery does not work to install PlayStore, even though it was set to do so in emteria settings, it does not come up after restart when selecting recovery mode. None of the other APK installer apps work either and it keeps coming back with a message 'internal problems' with the PI when starting up.

It comes rooted by default by the looks of it so thats a good feature. Though installing the Play Store or another non open source APK would be great.

Would very much like to get emteria going fully, so I can make good use of PI 5 and the touch screen I got it for it.

Evaluation version overlay fx over video (netflix)?

Hi, I am evaluating this android port, netflix works but the colors are not right (dimmed, a little darker) is it a limitation of the free version (overlay of the text + effect over video)? BTW it is quite expensive the real version when all you want to do is to plug a RPI3 in your tv and watch netflix, it could be nice to have another pricing that limits the number of apps installed?!

When I apply power it shows the multicolor square, then a few lines of text, then repeats that cycle.
Two of the lines of text look a bit suspicious:

WARN halted endpoint, queueing URB anyway.
Unexpected XHCI event TRB, skipping... (then four hex numbers, I took a photo and can type them in if that would help).

I'm downloading 13.5.0 now and will try that next.

Rasberry Compute Module 4 PoE board

I am designing a unit using the Waveshare Rasberry Compute Module 4 PoE board.

The purpose of the unit is to act as an interface between a DJI drone flight controller and a display and or FPV goggles, running DJI android software.

The connections are:

Display connection through HDMI port works/USB connection to the DJI flight controller doesn’t.

I have tried this previously with other android devices, and it works great.

However when I connect the controller to the Compute board 4, the DJI software which uses thr CM4 usb port doesn’t recognize the flight controller.

Has anyone experienced any similar issues connecting a device via USB. I can explain more the setup if required.

I am interested in how others might have debugged this issue?

Are there additional USB configuration not default in Emteria, that I would need to setup for it to recognize a hardware USB controller device, that would be default on majority of most android tablets out of the box?

Appreciate anyone’s input ans ideas.

I'm searching for the possibility of starting APK on RPI 3B+ or RPI CM4 and tried Emteria.
It works somehow but:

For RPI 3B+ available only Android 7 version. it is very outdated for me
11.11.0 not working on CM4 and hangs on the logo
11.8.0 works on CM4 but there are no Android settings at all (only Emteria settings), no file browser, even f-droid not working and firmware works with lags

Is anybody get it working?

Wifi constantly turning off

Recently installed 13.4.0 on RP 4b, 8gb. Works great for what I need except internet connectivity. Wifi drops after a short bit because it's being turned off, Fiddling with the location services (required to auto-turn on wifi) doesn't do anything. Is there a way or dev setting to force wifi to be on all the time? Ethernet works sometimes, but still loses connectivity after awhile.

It turned out that I downloaded the latest version 7.6.0 (also for 2 cards), but I can't load apps that worked on the older version until now. Bluetooth Crashes v11.11.00 RPi 4

I had v11.8 running fine on my RPi 4 with Bluetooth rock steady.

I updated the unit to v11.11 and now the Bluetooth crashes and won't start successfully.

I had some OS alert messages stating that the power supply was low so I changed it to a more powerful one but that hasn't changed the Bluetooth behaviour.

It looks like the unit is trying to start the bluetooth radio but doesn't manage to do it successfully.

Has anyone else experienced this problem?

i'm currently struggling with EmteriaOS on Raspberry Pi 3b+ because the system is rooted by default.
I wanted to install Sky Go, Netflix and other apps but most of them don't work with a system that is basically unrootable.

I tried apps like "Hide my Root", "RootCloak" and others - no success.
I tried using the app "SuperSU" and unroot completely - no success.
I tried to deactivate and delete the "Superuser" app installed by default - no success.
I tried to change the root permissions in the developer's settings - can't be found.
I even searched for the "su" file in /system/bin and /system/xbin - not there.

Is there ANY way to unroot this system? There are many users who aren't really into rooting their devices for reasons like the one above, so at least being able to choose what to do with their systems would be appreciated.

Using GPS Reciever with Emteria

Hi I was wondering if any one uses a USB GPS Receiver with the Emteria OS? I have a Raspberry Pi 4 and was trying to use a USB GPS Receiver but couldn't seem to get it to work. What Steps would i have to follow to get it working, do ia have to go through some sort of set up process or is it just a plug and play type of thing? The receiver that I have is a VFAN brand.

I have a Raspberry Pi 4 with a 128 GB SD Card in and i have the Emteria OS on it. It worked when i first loaded it and some since, but after it sat a little while, when I try to start my Raspberry Pi4 it just continuously tries to keep restarting. Screen Freeze due to inactivity? - RPI 3b+

After a span of time (less than an hour - more than 15 minutes) the display is unresponsive - the mouse and keyboard do nothing. I'm guessing that maybe this is a "sleep" timer? or the display is trying to dim itself?

Rock Pi 4 does not start after a shutdown

I am running into a weird problem. I have installed the OS 3 times already and each time after the initial powerup the board simply will not start.

When connected to power the green turns green, but the blue one does not flash and there is no output on HDMI
Is there a hardware button to powerup?

I tried both shutting down from the OS and simply removing power. Each time the same result, after reconecting the power the boar wont power up.

Hello: I have 2 test apps I have tried, and they both seem to have the same issue.

Device: Raspberry Pi 4 8GB
Emteria.OS: 13.3.0
BLE device: CC2650 Sensor Tag

Scanning works, but then after I call:

bluetoothLeScanner.stopScan(leScanCallback)
scanResult.device.connectGatt(application, true, gattCallback)

I've also run the Apps on Samsung Tab3 Active Pro running Android 11 without issue.

I see the following in the logs (I've attached files for the full copy of the log error from both test apps)

Hello,

I have installed emteria.os on a RPi4 so that I can run a digital signage player app built for Android but managed in the cloud. I think it is a cheap and simple solution. However, I am worried about the RPi4 getting too hot as it is behind the signage TV and both will be always on.

As well as adding a heat sink, I want to connect a cooling fan with 5V wire, ground wire and control wire to the GPIO pins so that the fan turns on when the temperature hits a certain threshold.

I'm afraid I do not have any programming experience. Is this possible to do? Searches on the web have not given me any simple solutions, or solutions I understand.

I am very interested in your solution. However, Android versions are limited to certain devices. We currently use and have already developed our system against, the Khadas VIM3. This device is a very capable RaspberryPi alternative that in some ways are more powerful (ie: It has a 5 TOP NN accelerator which is important to us) along with a PCIe slot. It seems to be gaining in popularity so hopefully you have already heard of it.

This device does already support Android from Khadas and it seems they have instructions on how to get Android and build it from their GitHub.

Given all of this, would it be possible to add support for this new board?

Or, is there any way to use your management solution without using your Android OS? Meaning, could I use the Android version that Khadas offers installed on the device and then install an application on it that can tie into your management system?

Is there any chance the Bluetooth might work better in future updates for the Rock PI?

In the newer version the connection sometimes disables on its own and the clicking the enable button simply does not work.

This seems to happen less often in the initial 11.1.0 version from our experience.

It looks like it’s not being detected properly as it flickers. I had this on my other SBCs

On my previous SBC’s running android I needed to configure the screen size manually. To do this on my other devices I would just edit.Env.in or the config.txt. Since I am using a rock pie 4 b I don’t have access to that file Sys the sink it’s onboard emmc. Is there another way to configure the display resolution?

BlueTooth Issues with Pi 4B

BlueTooth can find and pair with devices but for many, not all, it immediately drops them once pair is complete and cannot connect to them again.
This is using latest two Beta, same results with some of the nightlies too.

I try to change the screen resolution by changing file config.boot and build.prop and it won't work(i want 1280x720) as suggested in multiple post here

I also try with mdm by pushing a command but still won't work after reboot resolution is still 1920x1080,

Is there any way to get it working or will I need to use Raspberry Pi's custom gpio board? Is there any app or something I can install to get the joystick working? I have read about USB OTG. I succesfully managed to install Emteria with an USB Touchscreen. But I have a problem with the internet connection. When I insert a UTP cable, I am able to browse the internet. But when I try to turn on the wifi it stuck on "Turning Wifi On". While I was installing Emteria, the wifi was working. Any suggestions?
