I would like to start FrontFace in full-screen mode. The kiosk mode and everything else are working so far. However, there is still a white bar at the bottom where the apps are normally displayed. These are not visible in kiosk mode, but the display is still not in full-screen. Does anyone have an idea what settings I need to change to make it work?

Hello!
I have this problem where I want to activate my device, but Emteria's system tells me that it already was activated with another licence key. A licence key from an account that I can't access anymore. At this point, I don't even remember the credentials that I used for that account. So, i tried to recover the password using my current email accounts, but all of them returned a message that said that the account couldn't be recovered because it doesn't exist. Or something like that. So, I don't know how to recover the account that I used that time to register my device.

I assume that I am gonna be told something like "there's nothing we can do about that". But i would still want to ask, can I get this device to be activated in my new account?. Because I don't think that it is actually "impossible".

By the way, back when I supposedly activated that device, the system worked so badly that I got disappointed and decided to just send my account to oblivion, probably without even deleting my account.
As far as I can remember, I wasn't even able to connect to the internet because the system was buggy AF. So, I wonder how I was even able to activate it that time.

Please, say you can actually help me with this seriously annoying issue.

I only want to use my Raspberry Pi as a regular android device because android images for the RPi are practically non existent, and now that Emteria's system seems to be more usable and stable than it was like four years ago or so, I actually feel like I would actually be able to use it and enjoy it now.

By the way, I don't want to make anyone mad at me, but why are Emeteria's website and (at least previously) Android system so buggy and annoying to interact with?.

I hope someone can help me with this, even when the info I found about my problem says my problem "can't" be solved.

Hi folks,

I would l8ke to use one of my rpi 4s as a spotify player but mainly to play saved spotify playlists locally downloaded on a stroage device or the sd card. I am in australia in a remote area using satellite internet. The link has a a very high latency and gets overwhelmed in the evenings, so the live streaming aint no good with spotify but playing saved playlists locally is great. I want to free up my andoid tablets / notebooks / phone and use one of my rpi 4s instead. Tried moode and other linux distros with spotify connects but they buffer badly at some point. I have a great pa system (hk audio) playing thru a topping ex5 dac but the streaming unless I dedicate a android device lets me down. I was hoping a emteria os on pi4 would work? Thought I would download the spotify apk and install it or maybe via fdroid. I have tried other pi linux ops but the latency kills em. Android seems to work well as long as the spotify playlists are saved locally. I dont really have a workable windows pc (15 years old). Web version of spotify on linux to slow. Also headless would be best.

Any ideas?

Hi everyone!

I've stumbled on Emteria today in my quest for making a standalone android system for my ancient Renault Clio MK3.
I've given OpenAuto Pro a whirl and really like it, although I want to be able to use the unit without having to tether my phone.

My plan is to Use a Pi 4 with the official 7" touchscreen and mount some HATs to provide some of the features required to use this device in my car such as:
HAT - GPS
HAT - Audio out
USB - Mic
USB - mobile data via sim card

My uses would need to include
Spotify, YouTube and other media apps
Local Music
Calls
Google Maps/ map alternative
'OK Google' voice control

Has anyone tried something similar?

Thanks

Hi All,
Currently I'm a bit struggling to get a proper ethernet connection between two raspberry pi's.
I'm new to Emteria so maybe I miss some functionality/limitation?

My set-up:
Raspberry Pi 3 B running Dietpi v8.25.1, configured LAN with static IP 10.0.0.2 255.255.255.0
Raspberry Pi 4 B running Emteria v13.4.0, configured LAN with static IP 10.0.0.1 255.255.255.0
Connected to each-other directly with an ethernetcable (no router/switch etc. inbetween)
Both connected to the same WiFi network as well (both with DHCP 192.168.1.x)

I'm trying to stream UDP data from Emteria to Dietpi over the LAN connection between the devices (So I am not depending on the WiFi).

Initially I was only able to ping from DietPi to Emteria but not the other way around.
I've added an IP route/rule to fix this:
ip route add 10.0.0.2/32 dev eth0
ip rule add to 10.0.0.2 lookup eth0

IP route gives:
10.0.0.0/24 dev eth0 proto kernel scope link src 10.0.0.1
192.168.1.0/24 dev wlan0 proto kernel scope link src 192.168.1.208

IP route get 10.0.0.2 gives:
10.0.0.2 dev eth0 table eth0 src 10.0.0.1 uid 0 cache

IP rule list gives:
0: from all lookup local
9999: from all to 10.0.0.2 lookup eth0
10000: from all fwmark 0xc0000/0xd0000 lookup legacy_system
11000: from all iif lo oif dummy0 uidrange 0-0 lookup dummy0
11000: from all iif lo oif wlan0 uidrange 0-0 lookup wlan0
11000: from all iif lo oif eth0 uidrange 0-0 lookup eth0
16000: from all fwmark 0x10063/0x1ffff iif lo lookup local_network
16000: from all fwmark 0x10067/0x1ffff iif lo lookup wlan0
16000: from all fwmark 0x10c4f/0x1ffff iif lo lookup eth0
17000: from all iif lo oif dummy0 lookup dummy0
17000: from all iif lo oif wlan0 lookup wlan0
17000: from all iif lo oif eth0 lookup eth0
18000: from all fwmark 0x0/0x10000 lookup legacy_system
19000: from all fwmark 0x0/0x10000 lookup legacy_network
20000: from all fwmark 0x0/0x10000 lookup local_network
23000: from all fwmark 0x67/0x1ffff iif lo lookup wlan0
23000: from all fwmark 0xc4f/0x1ffff iif lo lookup eth0
31000: from all fwmark 0x0/0xffff iif lo lookup wlan0
32000: from all unreachable

Both ping tests back and forth are now fine, both with a stable <1ms time
But unfortunately the UDP stream of data is still not stable.

Also tested successfully:

Disable WiFi on Emteria (which seems to force the stream over eth0 and then works fine?)

Emteria stream to Dietpi over WiFi instead of LAN

Windows laptop stream over WiFi to DietPi

Windows laptop stream over LAN to DietPi (also configured with static IP 10.0.0.1, plugged ethernet from Emteria into laptop)

To be more specific on the UDP datastream:
This is a Godot "Game" to running on Emteria and also streaming the screen data to DietPi.
But the screen on the DietPi is very laggy.
The Godot code uses the PacketPeerUDP() with set_dest_address(IP_SERVER, PORT_SERVER) and put_packet(buffer) to set up the UDP stream.

I have tried chmodding it and my folder to no avail. Has anyone else had this type of issue?

I'm trying to install Gapps on a Raspberry Pi 4 with Emteria. I've had no issues getting Emteria up and running, however I've not been able to get Gapps installed.

I have:
- Installed and booted Emteria
- Enabled Developer Options
- Enabled Allow ADB via Ethernet in the Emteria options in settings

While Emteria is booted I am able to connect to the device from adb on Windows, however if I try to use the
adb sideload
command, I get the errors:

adb: sideload connection failed: no devices/emulators found

adb: trying pre-Kitkat sideload medthod...

adb: pre-Kitkat sideload connection failed: no devices/emulators found

I'm not sure if I should expect to be able to sideload Gapps while Emteria is booted or not.

If I reboot to recovery, I'm aware that Emteria for RPi4 does not currently have TWRP, but in the recovery menu there is a load from ADB option. If I choose that the device appears to tell me to go ahead and use adb sideload.

However, while in this recovery state, the RPi4 doesn't appear to be connected to the network via ethernet or WiFi (not sure if I should expect it to be) but
adb devices
shows nothing even when the RPi4 is connected to the PC via USB, so I can't use sideload there either...

Anyone got any pointers?

Hi folks,

I think it is obvious to everyone that a huge amount of the interest in Emteria and Android on RPI is related to in-car infotainment. This is a huge application area and I think there are a couple of things holding emteria back in this regard that I will get to later.

But for now, some good news - I have got Apple Carplay working using a carplay usb dongle, RPI and Emteria 0.7.1

There is huge interest in getting car play working on the PI. E.g. see here:
https://www.raspberrypi.org/forums/viewtopic.php?f=35&t=76298&p=1523831#p1523831

There are a number of issues holding this back:
- Bluetooth support - my dongle supports wireless carplay, but with no bluetooth support I am limited to plugging my phone into the dongle.
- RPI 4 support
- Latest version of Emteria 0.8.1 does not support the official RPI touchscreen (DSI).
- Support for external USB sound card

Would be great to see progress in these area - I think there are a lot of potential users waiting in the wings if these can be solved.

Edit: This USB mic and audio out splitter is working for me on Emteria 0.7.1: https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B01N905VOY/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o00_s01?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Well, I have started a new project for my car and I would like to add GPS navigation and FM radio.
My first choice was to incorporate Navit based on this project: "https://christian-brauweiler.de/carpi-2016-step-by-step-anleitung/", but the project seems to have been abandoned and the Navit links no longer work. I have a GPS module (https://www.adafruit.com/product/746) that I connect via UART, and from what I have read in this forum it is possible to use it for GPS navigation.

Now I need to know if it is possible to use an FM module via i2c and use some program to be able to tune the radio.
I know I can listen to the radio on the internet, but I would like to do it using the FM module. It would be fantastic! I don't know if Emteria can be the solution, but if you can help me I would be very grateful. And sorry for my english, I hope you haven't trouble reading this message.

Is it possible to run Emteria as a read only operating system on a Raspberry Pi? My main reason for this would to be able to just "pull the plug" on the Raspberry Pi without a proper shutdown. If Emteria is run as read only there is no chance of the SD card corrupting. This would only be useful for static displays, such as using it in a car for CarPlay. It would be something similar to this, https://learn.adafruit.com/read-only-raspberry-pi/

I downlaoded UsbGps4Droid (are there any other alternatives to this?) and I've been able to get the GPS spoofing to work under very specific circumstances:

Replugin in the USB GPS

Run 'dmesg' in terminal and see the message "usbfs: process xxxx (pool-7-thread-1) did not claim interface 0 before use" (

Accept the prompt that pops up "Allow the app UsbGps to access the USB device" (This prompt will allways pop up even if I hit the "Use by default..." checkbox.

Restart the UsbGps4Droid service

GPS will finally get a location

This is definitely not a desired procedure for use in my car infotainment system. I'm on the cusp of purchasing a full version of emteria but I can't until I can get this figured out.

Has anyone found a way to get the USB working immediately after boot?

Hi Kalkov and everyone else,

As mentioned in the topic here: https://forum.emteria.com/discussion/665/help-needed-for-python-smbus-and-i2c-tools#latest

I did some tests with the UPS HAT for the Raspberry 3B (without + because of incompatiblity with POE PIN Out on B+) which worked in a special way but I'm not convinced about my results yet.

What does the Unit: the Unit is designed to work with the pi 3 as an UPS (uninterruptable power supply which means it can handle powercuts and so on).

Integrated RTC and the most important for my project as a voltage transformer it has a seperate 2way in for voltage from 7 to 48 V DC wich makes it perfect to supply juice from a car, or boat or something. The Unit is controlled and configured by a deamon wich is written only for raspbian in python i think. So i did some research an tried a dual use install on emteria with a package called DEBIAN KIT on F-Droid. It worked in a way but not a 100 percent and I'm not sure where the show stoppers are.

First thing that i noticed is, emteria has problems with the integrated rtc ds1307 as mentioned in this topic here: https://forum.emteria.com/discussion/522/enable-i2c-and-install-a-rtc#latest

My first thought about this was, its something headed to the dualuse install on the kernel, that debian and android are grabbing for the same device at the same time, but this problem is also present without debian installed on emteria.

The second thing which is difficult is the behavior of the file save shutdown function from the HAT. Because raspbian and emteria seem to use different commands to shutdown the OS and so nothing happens if you cut the mainpower and the timer runs down to whats configured e.g. file save shutdown after 30 seconds.

I think this unit could be a very good upgrade for the pi especiallly running Emteria but its necessary to get it running properly.

So I'm ready to spend your company one of this units for free (I'm not connected to them in anyway, I'm only a private customer) if you say there will be a chance for integration.

here the links to the product, and manual and driver/software (deamon)

the company and site is written in german but i link the EN sites

As is saw today it seems the HAT works with tinker board and UP board too.

I'm looking forward to hearing from you.

Best Regards

Kevin.

Hi Emteria-Team and everybody else,

firstly I'll introduce what's planned with Emteria.OS.
I want to integrate a Raspberry based headunit running Emteria in my car, therefor I do evaluate your OS since a Month. The most things I need to run are working very well. Now there is the ultimate Showstopper. I bought a UPS from the german Company Olmatic called S.USV advanced. It's designed to work perfectly with the Raspberry but to control and configure the behavior of the unit (its also a VRM, so it regulates the 12V Boardvoltage down to whats needed on the Pi and HATS and RTC is integrated too) there is the installation of the two tools necessary. On their manual they point out howto do it on raspbian. Is there a way to get these packages into and upto running on Emteria?

I'm looking forward to hearing from you with a positiv feedback ;-)
If this works I'm going to buy a business license.

Good day all,

I,m currently doing a project with emteria os installed on rpi 3 with the rpi touchscreen, everything is working well for the basics.

The goal was to get real-time info via Bluetooth from my ecu (MaxxECU) using the vendors software (Mdash).
The the software is working well but when the connection is made via Bluetooth it reads the data for a few minutes then it stops reading, the software and the pi is still connected/paired to the ecu and the app is not frozen as I can still make other adjustments with the gauges etc.

In order to resolve this I either have to completely close off the app and relaunch it or restart the rpi. I also disabled all the other apps and even tried turning on "do not disturb mode" with little help.

The temp of the pi is good and it has at least 400MB free memory so I'm thinking it could be a fault on the Bluetooth side of things idk..... any advice will be appreciated

Hi all,

I'm playing a little bit with the Raspberry PI and found Emteria while searching for information about the Raspberry.
Good job !
It runs almost stable and I was able to install Google Play.

Now I'm interested to use the tiny Raspberry as navigation system in the car. Unfortunatelly GPS dosn't work. I connected a GPS Mouse via USB and the installed TomTom App dosn't found the GPS module.

Is there any possibility to get GPS working?

Regards
Supergrobi

Hello, I'm evaluating Emteria for a project. I'm searching for a good method to display and interact with an Android app on a large tv screen (50"). I tested a 7" touchscreen and it worked without any modifications. Does anyone have any experience getting a large touchscreen overlay working? They are sold on Amazon, eBay, and other sites.

I am trying to add this driver to Emteria OS for LTE/SMS/Voice calling, but I need to edit init.rc to start the daemon service. I did so by adb shell, but it was reconfigured by the recovery image. Being relatively new to this sort of tinkering I am not sure how to extract init.rc from the boot partition, or even if it can be done on Emteria. The solutions I found online were for Android phones, and didn't work for me. I may try a startup script to edit init.rc on boot, but that isn't ideal. Any suggestions/tips would be appreciated.
