Spotify playing music when not connected to the internet

Hi folks,

I would l8ke to use one of my rpi 4s as a spotify player but mainly to play saved spotify playlists locally downloaded on a stroage device or the sd card. I am in australia in a remote area using satellite internet. The link has a a very high latency and gets overwhelmed in the evenings, so the live streaming aint no good with spotify but playing saved playlists locally is great. I want to free up my andoid tablets / notebooks / phone and use one of my rpi 4s instead. Tried moode and other linux distros with spotify connects but they buffer badly at some point. I have a great pa system (hk audio) playing thru a topping ex5 dac but the streaming unless I dedicate a android device lets me down. I was hoping a emteria os on pi4 would work? Thought I would download the spotify apk and install it or maybe via fdroid. I have tried other pi linux ops but the latency kills em. Android seems to work well as long as the spotify playlists are saved locally. I dont really have a workable windows pc (15 years old). Web version of spotify on linux to slow. Also headless would be best.

Any ideas?

  • I have installed the os and spotify apk on pi4. I have set the pi audio to use usb and jacks but I dont get any sound out of the usb to my topping ex5 dac. The dac shows an input but still no sound. Tried rebooting and adjusting sound levels but no sound.
    Anyone have any ideas please?
