Swap or Cache?

edited June 2018 in Supported devices

Given my latest results with the MicroSD type A1 I was performing a search to share the workload on other connected memories.
I noticed that you can increase the cache on the MicroSD with this application:

https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=de.mehrmann.sdbooster

I don't think, however, that the program as set now works as it only detects SD memories.

Should be found the way you use USB memory as Cache, but I do not know how to do it.

Another solution I thought is the possibility of implementing a swap memory to be applied to an external USB memory, I found this guide:

https://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1659231

But I think that the 2 things are not related, because on the one hand we go to act on the cache of reading and writing, in the second case we perform an extension of the RAM memory allowing to write on a memory different from the one we are using.

Which one do you think is the best solution?

@kalkov what do you think?

  • Interesting. I'll take a closer look at those apps and on what they are trying to achieve and get back to you.
