Can anyone add a bit more information? My Pi3 does have a problem.
I can (briefly) see a message to the effect that "Ethernet not available" on line one of the startup console. All indications at the port into which the Pi3 is plugged, suggests that the Ethernet is available? And yes there is a functioning DHCP server on the local net.

Ethernet works without problems. Android will get an IP over DHCP at startup.

Ethernet should work out of the box. Just plug in the Ethernet cable and you will see a small
<-->
symbol in the notification bar.
