I installed this on a Pi 3 B+ with heatsinks, and installed Gapps for ARM (7.1, pico). It's so slow it's pretty much completely unusable. Is there something I need to do to get it running at a reasonable speed?

My ultimate goal is to run this thing headless and be a dedicated device for doing TTS for a home automation system. I am replacing a Nexus 7 that did the job just fine for years, but the battery is now completely shot and I want something without a battery to worry about.

Edit with all specs:

  • Raspberry Pi 3 B+ with aluminum heatsinks
  • Sandisk 16GB card, marked A1
  • Open Gapps, ARM architecture, Android 7.1, pico
  • 800x600 HDMI screen connected for now, will run headless
