Device selection

For a performance driven large android display signage. Which hardware is suggested to be used?

Pi5,rock 5B,n100 nuc (rock 5b+ supported? Or x4?). Open for any hardware recommendations

43" touchscreen kiosk

We weren't sure the performance on the celadon emulation x86 VS the SBC based systems.

Thank you.

  • Hi @Kraken. It depends on what exactly you understand when you say "performance". Video decoding? Web rendering? 3D/OpenGL? CPU benchmark?

If you have a specific test, we might be able to run in on different devices and share results. From our experience, digital signage applications work best with Rock 5, but RPi 5 is catching up quickly. NUC may be a valid option. Performance of x86 platforms also depend on the used CPU/GPU.

  • Will a NUC 100 system running celadon android perform faster then a rock 5 for example? The NUC 100 chip is faster then the rock chipset but how is that performance gap when emulated?
