Screen "glows" (Pi 5 4GB Ram, Ilyama Touchscreen)

I am experiencing an issue with my system.
I am running the Emteria operating system on a Raspberry Pi 5 with 4GB of RAM.
I have configured the system to turn off the screen after a specific period of inactivity (X minutes).
Initially, the screen does indeed go completely black. However, after a few seconds, the backlight switches back on, and the screen remains dimly lit—it just "glows."
Screen savers are disabled and are not active.
The display in question is a 22.5-inch touchscreen by Iiyama.
The screen is being operated in portrait mode.
How can I configure the system so that the HDMI signal is completely cut off when the screen times out?
