Installed doesn't work correctly on recent Fedora release

Hi,

The installed itself is relying on old openssl and doesn't bundle required version. This causes it to fail to authenticate when trying to run it on Fedora 27:

  • Thanks for reporting, we will check what is the best way for solving this issue.

    Hi,

Is there any update? It would help if you just specify which version of openssl did you build your bundled Qt libraries against.

Alternatively ISO download location would help so that I can use dd. Running untrusted code with sudo access doesn't sound like a good option in the first place.

  • As far as I remember, we build the Linux Installer with Ubuntu Trusty, so its probably OpenSSL 1.0.2l. Unfortunately, we can't keep up with all the updates and improvements and still have to create new releases manually. There was another great post suggesting useful improvements (including the use of sudo): https://forum.emteria.com/discussion/136/self-explanatory-name-for-osx-installer-application-and-other-improvements#latest, but we are still too slow in incorporating them.

An ISO download isn't planned for the near future because of the legal implications.

Could you please let me know what legal implications are you referring to? You're already distributing the software via your installer. ISO is just another form of distribution.

  • The Linux kernel is built and distributed separately from the platform and separately from the OEM extensions. We would like to keep it this way. It would be great to find a platform-independent way to build an ISO directly on the client machine.
