would running emteria.OS Off a SSD Storage Expansion Board boost speed?
Would running emteria.OS Off a Raspberry Pi SATA HDD/SSD Storage Expansion Board with a fast SSD help with speeding up the OS. Its great now but would be slightly faster running on ssd instead of SD card? I am sure you can boot of an external usb device and I am thinking the bottleneck is the sd card and using this solution the bottleneck would be the USB speed?
I do understand the cpu and memory are also limited and its not all the sd cards fault.

In theory it is... On a practical level you need to see if @kalkov can change all the mount points to be able to see the partitions in the right places.
A new disk preparation tool should also be recreated.
In my opinion, this solution would also solve all the problems concerning the lack of sufficient IOPS of MicroSD cards.
Hm, interesting. But difficult to integrate into the standard distribution, as many important platform components have to be changed. Maybe this is something for the future.
Seems to be the same question that was asked previously here:

and also here:

I’m also very interested in this boot-from-USB capability being added.
