Waveshare 7 Inch LCD (B) show shaddows but not make actions

I bought a Waveshare 7 Inch LCD (B), but the touch screen ins't working correctly;

When i do the first start of Emteria OS, i try to click on "next" and the button shows a shadow proving that the touch ist's working, but only shows shadows when i try to click, nothing else happens.

Can someone help? I'm using Raspberry Pi 3B

  • I almost forget, on the recovery the Touch screen works perfectly

  • the button shows a shadow proving that the touch ist's working, but only shows shadows when i try to click, nothing else happens

Sorry, I don't understand it. So the OS reacts to touch events, but does not click?

Yes it's that, can you help?
I'm sorry if i can't express myself correctly, it's a little hard when i think on portuguese and have to write in english.

  • I think he means tapping a button only moves the cursor there but doesn't click it. The gray colour a button gets while you hover your cursor over it is propbably the shadow he mentions.

  • @leandro96araujo Do you see the actual mouse pointer while interacting with the screen?

  • Yes, I have the same problem with Waveshare touchscreen, THERE IS the actual mouse pointer, that acts wild and unpredictable move, back and forth, left and right. When I need to tap a button, I have to "herd" that pointer to the button position in order to be able to tap/click the button, which is a very hard thing to do. Kalkov, have you tried yourself, using Raspi emteria with a touchscreen? How to get rid the mouse pointer?

  • Is it this waveshare 7 inch screen: https://youtu.be/XqqOPIM4b0Y ? I had no problem using it. I have to mention I switched from a different 7inch screen to this one so I didn't install with this screen, just used it.

No, mine don't have the frame and have 2 micro usb doors, one for power and another for touck.

  • What's the exact model, and do you have an Amazon link?

  • I am having exactly the same issue with my 7" display! This is the one I bought: https://www.aliexpress.com/item/32839345385.html?spm=a2g0s.9042311.0.0.416f4c4d8bpbXD

The seller's page mentions the controller is XPT2046.

I found an rpi3 driver (bunch of bash scripts) but I am not sure how to get it to work on Emteria:
    https://github.com/CytronTechnologies/xpt2046-LCD-Driver-for-Raspberry-Pi
    https://github.com/goodtft/LCD-show

Baffling how touches act like mouse movement but doesn't register any clicks.

  • Mine is the same brand and model

  • Could one of you please submit a bugreport from the OS (settings -> emteria), so we can take a look on the internal configuration (please add a proper issue description)? We have a similar display in our lab and it works just fine. Maybe they changed something in newer versions or this is a different model.

Responding to let you know I saw your message. I'll submit it the next time I get the chance.

Are you able to test it for Kalkov? My only RPi3 is being used with a different project right now.
  • I'm sorry, only now I have the chance to make a bugreport
